We’re all set for a big season of bittern-friendly rice growing. With much more favourable water allocations, many new growers should be able to meet the criteria, building on the success of last season. Expressions of interest opened several weeks ago and this Wednesday, Sept. 30, is your last chance to put in an EOI for this season’s incentives with Riverina Local Land Services. Please contact Anna Wilson so you don’t miss out: 0428 964 785, anna.wilson@lls.nsw.gov.au
This program is for Early Permanent Water growers in the Murrumbidgee and Coleambally Irrigation Areas. It’s all about maximising opportunities for successful bittern breeding and includes ‘nesting pad’ trials, grassy banks, channel habitat and fox/cat control. For more info, please see the Incentives Flyer and Landholder Guide.
